Quickstart
From signup to your first AI answers, step by step
This guide takes you from signup to your first answers. Setup itself is two short steps; GEOflux then writes suggested prompts and finds your competitors in the background, and nothing is tracked until you accept it.
Step 1: Create your account
On the signup page, pick how you want to start:
- Starter trial (recommended) or Growth trial: 14 days of the full plan, no card needed.
- Free: a smaller version of GEOflux that stays free. Prompts refresh every 3 days instead of daily, and Personas, AI Readiness and Brand Perception are not included.
Free and a trial are separate ways in: a Free account cannot start a trial later. If you want to see the full product, start with a trial. See Billing and credits for what each plan includes.
Then continue with Google, or with an email and password. With a password, confirm your email address from the message we send before you continue.
Step 2: Tell us who you track for
Who are you tracking for? has two answers:
- My own brand, for in-house marketing, SEO and brand teams.
- My clients' brands, for agencies and consultants. Add your agency name and website (filled in from your email address when it can be) and, optionally, a phone number. Each client becomes its own project; see Agency and client management.
Step 3: Set up your brand
Fill in four fields:
- Website: start here. GEOflux suggests the brand name from it.
- Brand name: the name you want AI engines to mention. Use the shortest form people actually say, for example "HubSpot", not "HubSpot, Inc.".
- Country: the market this project tracks. A project tracks one country, and the country cannot be changed later. If GEOflux guessed it for you, confirm it with Yes, track in your country.
- What do you sell? (recommended): a sentence or two. GEOflux writes your suggested prompts and finds your competitors from this, so without it they are more generic.
Continue creates your workspace on the plan you picked. Until then you can still change the plan from the chip at the top of the setup screen. If the Free plan is full when you get here, you can start a 14-day trial instead or join the Free waitlist.
Step 4: Review your suggestions
You land on the Overview. While it reads Writing your prompts and finding your competitors, GEOflux is researching your brand and category. When it switches to Your suggestions are ready to review:
- Click Review prompts (the button shows how many are waiting). On the Suggested tab, Track the prompts that read like questions your buyers really ask, and Dismiss the rest. Each tracked prompt uses 1 credit and is sent to the engines straight away.
- Click Review competitors and track the brands you actually compete with. Your plan sets how many: 3 on Free, 4 on Starter, 9 on Growth.
Suggestions are a draft, not a plan. They never name your brand, and they are only as good as your description. If you are setting up tracking for real, read Build a prompt plan before you fill your credits.
Step 5: Add your own prompts
On Prompts, click Add prompt and type one prompt per line. Each needs at least 4 words and at most 200 characters. Give the batch a Topic, and set its Buyer Journey step (Discover, Evaluate or Buy) and its Branded vs Non-branded value: those two fields drive the most useful Overview reads. Have a list already? Use the Import CSV tab.
A good prompt reads like something a real person would type into ChatGPT: "Which bean-to-cup coffee machine would you recommend for a small kitchen under 400 pounds?", not "bean to cup machine". See Add and manage prompts.
Step 6: Read your first answers
The first answers usually arrive within about 10 minutes of tracking a prompt, and the Overview fills in on its own as they land. Until then it shows Your first answers are on their way, with a short checklist of things that make the first report better: describe what you sell, use at least half your credits, track your competitors, and, where your plan and role allow, create personas and invite a teammate.
Once answers are in, the Overview opens on its tabs: Visibility, Share of Voice, Sentiment, Sources, Brands, Personas, Topics, Buyer Journey and Engines. Read The Overview dashboard for what each one tells you, and the Answers page to read what the engines actually said.
One day of answers is a first look, not a result. AI answers vary from day to day, so give it two weeks before drawing conclusions. See How GEOflux works.
Step 7: Fix what Tracking health flags
Once answers are in, a heart icon in the top bar shows Tracking health: the number of things that would make your data less reliable. Open it and work through the list, for example prompts whose answers never mention you or a competitor, or competitors waiting for review. See Tracking health.
